President’s
Words
Being
elected as president of the Zoologico Club of the Faculty of Veterinary
Medicine, UPM, I am truly honored and privileged to be given this opportunity
to serve this club. As a president, I am very eager to make a difference to the
lives of the animals. It has become a fact that wildlife is dwindling in
numbers. For example, out of 9 species of tigers in the world, 3 has gone
extinct. Even the population of wild Malayan tigers which is our country’s
trademark is at stake. Do you know that there are only 3 Sumatran Rhinos in
captivity in Malaysia? These poor creatures are going on a road to extinction
in a matter of time. So, in order to help these animals, we must have a better
understanding of these animals and this is exactly the primary goal of this
club.
I believe
every single person can make a difference no matter how small and insignificant
we may seem to be. As a student, I would
like to take this opportunity to expose through a series of activities
organized by our club the beauty and richness of wildlife in Malaysia and the
unfortunate facts which are happening to Mother Nature as well as some
out-of-the-book knowledge. Hence, at the end of the day, hopefully students
will be able to contribute to protecting their wellbeing and continuity by
being their voice. So, dive in and get yourself involved in our activities and
let your interest and curiosity drive you on a journey to explore the beauty
and wonder of the animal kingdom.
Cheers J
