Dear DVM students,

Welcome back to campus. To the new students, it’s about time you hear about The Zoologico Club. To the new club committee, congratulations! The club, as always, have planned exciting activities for everyone and I hope this brings about great awareness about the plight for wildlife conservation. Every year thousands of acres of forested land is being transformed into agricultural and industrial areas without consideration on the effects on native wildlife. The exotic pet industry creates demand in the wildlife trade, regardless of whether it’s legal or illegal. Indiscriminate fishing, logging, massive mining and resource waste contributes to the depletion of wildlife and its ecosystem. These examples are evidences on how the current society is still lacking in awareness for conservation. The Zoologico Club is the most active club at the faculty and is a platform to garner interest amongst DVM students on the importance of wildlife conservation. I hope with all the activities planned, we will create a better future for humans and animals alike. I wish you all the best with your activities.
